To get an add-on working, you need to have an active top-up.

stores across the country.
# All Top-ups and Add-ons must be activated within 90 days of purchase.
# After the expiry date, you can still make emergency 999 calls and recieve
voice calls, video calls and messages.
# The validity period of any new Top-up or Add-on will only start when
the inclusive voice minutes, text messages, £1.50 or £10,
£15 or £20 credit on your initial allowance is used up, or
when your previous Top-up reaches the end of it's validity period.
